FHH HUNGARY 1945 After enjoying major success of the Battle of Debrecen, the division fought in co-operation with sPzAbt 503 and was soon involved in the withdrawal towards Budapest. The Panzergrenadier Division, sPzAbt 503 and the 13. Panzer-Division Feldherrnhalle, by now exhausted and dangerously understrength, were pushed back into the city. On December 21, 1944, sPzAbt 503 was renamed schwere-Panzer-Abteilung Feldherrnhalle. On December 31, the three formations were encircled along with IX. SS-Gebirgskorps. For the next month, the Feldherrnhalle units desperately held out for rescue. After the failure of Operation Konrad, Armeegruppe Balck's rescue attempts, the pocket collapsed and the divisions were destroyed on February 12, 1945. This particular gun “Ziu”, was famously employed in the Warsaw Uprising in 1944. The model is fully assembled and pre-painted and is ready for immediate display…as long as collectors can clear enough space for it! It constitutes an impressive model thanks to its sheer size and bulk though fortunately it doesn’t weigh nearly as much as the original mortar! This Dragon Armor item is full of intricate detail and it is presented in firing mode with the chassis lowered. The three-colour camouflage scheme is particularly well done and represents the work of true craftsmen. As a special bonus, a huge shell is included with this assembled model, which gives a sense of the sheer scale of this weapon. The real gun could attain a rate of fire of only six rounds per hour and its strategic success was limited at best but as a model, this 1/35 scale “Ziu” is unbeatable in its “shock and awe” effect! |

Newly acquired tanks captured from Russian forces were going to be used for the operations. T-34s and KV-2s were combined into a special company designated (z.b.v.) 66. This company was to be used specifically for the invasion of Malta where the KV-2s would make perfect bunker busters. In March of 1941 in preparation for the Malta invasion the captured KV-2s were painted in tropical camouflage schemes of Gelbraun (yellow-brown) and Graubraun (grey-brown) along with a small Balkenkreuz (black cross – national symbol) on the side of the turret. M26 CHAFFEE - GERMANY 1945
The M-24 Chaffee was named after
Major General Adna Romanza Chaffee Jr. who is considered the father
of the US Armored branch. It was developed to correct the
deficiencies found in the M-3 Stuart by increasing the armor, a new 75mm main gun and the first time a torsion bar suspension was added to an American tank. It wasn’t until the latter months of the war in Europe that the Chaffee made its appearance but they played a major role in the Battle of the Bulge and the push into Germany. The M-24 was considered as possibly the best Light Tank of WWII. |

Patton Jr. It basically was an improved M26 Pershing and was meant to replace the M26 and M4 Sherman.800 of the M26s were converted to M46s and received a new more powerful engine and transmission with rearward-facing fender mounted mufflers and a main gun with a bore evacuator. The M46s made up 15% of the tank force in Korea and proved superior to its T34/85 counterparts. |

Sqn., 4th Armored Division The American M8 was equipped with a 37mm gun and 6X6 wheel drive and was the main recon vehicle used by the US military during WWII. The only positive thing the crews had to say about the vehicle was it was reliable and fast on roads. It performed poorly off road, was very lightly armored with only sheet metal for a floor. | HG3802 | M8 UTILITY CAR - 2nd Armoured Div., 82 Armored Recon. Battlion, C. Co., 1st Platoon, France, August 1944 The M20 was an Armoured Utility Car that was also known as an M20 Scout Car. It was a converted M8 without the revolving turret so there would be room for passenger seats, radio equipment, a Commanders table and the ring mounting for a .50 calibre heavy machine gun. The crew was also provided a bazooka for defence to help compensate for the lack of heavy armour. This configuration meant there was an open top but it did provide a certain amount of protection for the crew from small arms fire or shrapnel. The M20 had a top speed of 90km/h and was quite agile which made it well suited for forward reconnaissance work. The vehicle was also used as an APC and cargo carrier. The M20 started life in 1943 as the M10 Armoured Utility Car but was changed to M20 so it wouldn’t be confused with the M10 TD. 3-Ton CARGO TRUCK (Early Version)
These 3-ton cargo trucks became the
back bone of the German military transports. The
military
designation for these 3-ton trucks was Kfz. 305. Originally designed
as a 4X2 rear-wheel drive but in 1940 a 4-wheel design was made
available and it became very much appreciated by its crew for the
cross country abilities. This variant of the 3-ton was
used primarily for cargo transportation but could easily be adapted to handle troops. These 3-ton trucks continued to be manufactured even when WWII was declared ended and the S type became the most used truck for German commercial transport. |
